Every year our school makes an exchange program to Holland for the students to see another country and know new people. Students live with families there and can try typical Dutch food or their customs. Then, after a few months, the students from Holland come to Slovakia and do similar things as we did at their home.

We went to Holland by bus, and we went in the night. When we got there, we went to our families, and started the week full of new things. Probably the first different thing I noticed was, that they had kind of a little farm at their home. It was totally different from Slovakia. Then, another atypical thing for us was cycling to school. Their country is flat, so cycling is really popular there. Every morning I was going huge distance on a bike to get to school.

In Holland I saw some interesting things. I think that I liked mostly seeing Amsterdam. We went on a trip by a boat and then to Anna Frank’s house. This was really interesting and, I would say a little terrifying, as they were telling us how did Anna Frank and her family live during the war.

Then, our other trip was an excursion to a company that was working with waste. They were burning it, dumping it and some other things. Most of the students didn’t like it because of the huge smell.

Then, another thing we didn’t like were the students. They weren’t behaving as well as they should have, and they were a big nuisance.

Some students have a similar opinion as I do. They liked the trip to Amsterdam, or seeing Anna Frank’s house. They also liked cycling to school and their nature. The things that they disliked were mostly the students, the company for waste, or the thing that students and teachers smoked at the school.
