In May of this year a new janitor came to our school, Evanjelické Lýceum. His name is Samuel Schvarc. After the previous janitor Michal had to go to the pension, some people in church spoke to Samuel and offered him a job as a new janitor. He accepted this offer with a big pleasure.

Our new janitor Samuel was born in 1947. He lived in a small village Pukanec near Levice, but when he married he came to the Bratislava. He and his wife have lived here for almost 32 years. Before he came to our school and became the janitor, he worked as a locksmith and fastener. He worked with iron, lead and other metals. He loved his job but later, because of his age, he had to go to the pension and stopped his work.

Samuel is an evangelical religion and he likes going to the church.  There he met people who offered him a job as a janitor at our school.  He accept this work and from may  he is at our school almost like at home. The main function of his work is in morning when he controls students and writes down their late arrivals to school. During the day he repairs doors and locks ,changes the light bulbs,takes care of a park and path outside the school and controls the work of cleaners, if they do their work as well as they have to do.

How I learned from him was one morning he became very angry. Some students from another school came to the building and wanted to go and buy their breakfast in our school buffet . Our janitor stopped them and sent them back. The unknown students did not understand why it is forbidden and did not want to leave, but finally they gave up and went out.

Beside the job as a janitor, he stays in good physical condition.  Every morning he goes to the work on bicycle and in his free time he often goes swimming.

We welcomed our new janitor at our school with big pleasure and with smiles on our faces.
