On 5th and 6th May 2011 was organized a Slovak volleyball Championship between High Schools in Nitra where our school, The Evangelical Lyceum wasn´t missing. This tournament was just for girls.There were together 8 teams: Košice, Považská Bystrica, Nitra, Vranov nad Topľov, Žiar nad Hronom, Prešov, Liptovský Hrádok and our team from Bratislava. Each city was from different country.

   Although all the teams were very good, the winner could be just one. This year it was Nitra, the 2nd price won Považská Bystrica and the 3rd won Liptovský Hrádok. Each player from these teams got gold, silver or bronze medal and the team got a gold, silver or bronze cup. Every team got a diploma for participation on this event. The Ev. Lyceum ended up in fifth place “which was really big success for us, because we are not a school focused on the sports as the other schools are,” said Professor Bridová, the main coach and teacher of volleyball team on Ev. Lyceum.

I asked Miriam Babálová from 1.A and Nikoleta Gálová from 2.A (both of them are volleyball players on Ev. Lyceum) some questions about this event. Both of them liked it very much. They agreed that the accommodations and the food with service were great and they felt free. Also it has a good organization and sport atmosphere which are very important. The other teams were very friendly. They went there by bus and it was quite fast because the bus was a direct connection. The other advantages were that they didn´t have to go to school and the games took place in two gyms so it went more quickly.

But there were also some disadvantages. They weren´t so satisfied with the ceiling in one of the gyms (it should be higher) and the hotel where they lived was a long way from the gym where they played so they must walk all the way to the gym. For the next time they will change the place where it was (no Nitra). But overall they are satisfied with this event and they are happy that they were there because they knew more people now and it was fun because all the people who were there love volleyball and so everyone enjoyed it.

The coach of our volleyball team Professor Bridová was also satisfied with this tournament. She said that Nitra was very good place to have this tournament because the girls from Nitra are playing in higher competitions so they knew what it is need to have. They have many experiences. She liked the most our enthusiasm for the game. She was very happy that we ended up in fifth place. What she didn´t like was the one gym because the lines there, which bounded the court, weren´t clear to see. When she is comparing it with the tournament which was last year in Spišská Bystrica she can say that in Spišská Bystrica the gyms were better because they were in one building and so it wasn´t so confused. Also the atmosphere there was better because there was better connection with the teams. She is really happy that we had the chance to go to Nitra and we could enjoy it.

The tournament like this will be certainly also the next year but the place is still unknown. We are already looking forward to it.
