Find out about the fun and friendships of the cooking Kruzok. By Kristina Demeterova.

Mrs. Strekal, our favourite teacher of Social Studies or Reading & Writing, teaches students of the Lyceum how to cook. Once a week a group of students, mostly girls, meet in our school to cook and than taste their work.

Mrs. Strekal started cooking when she was a little girl. She is still interested in it. Now it’s about 40 years from when she cooked her first food, cookies. During this time she developed lots of skills to lead kružok Cooking. When asked why she leads the kruzok, she said, “Kids need to know how to cook.” It is also fun to taste different foods, experience different tastes and food from different cultures.  She likes seafood, middle eastern food, but she also does not dislike “bryndzové halušky”, kofola or cheeses which are not in the U.S.A.

Students love this kružok very much. They enjoy it. Every week someone from the group chooses a recipe, so each student can find something to his taste.  Some of the students also cooked the really best recipes at home more than once. “I like almost everything, but the best recipe was The 7 layer taco salad.” said Katka Končová, girl from the kružok. So when you are interested in cooking, want to find new friends, have free time and love fun just join this cooking kružok.
