First Year Students to experiment with online news
First Year Students to Publish Electronic Newsletter
First Year students at the Evangelical Lyceum Bratislava will be experimenting with an online news letter that will be published daily on the school’s web site, www.evlyceum.sk, beginning the second week of June 2011, announced Professor William Fredell. Students will be researching, writing and publishing these stories as part of their journalistic studies in First Year Reading and Writing Classes.
According to Fredell, electronic communications are quickly replacing many printed publications, so writing for the internet is becoming an important skill. “It’s excellent practice for students to learn how to write stories that will be published on the internet and available for people across the world to read. When the media is immediate and worldwide, writers and other communicators have bigger responsibility for quality, accuracy and appropriateness, “ he said.
Professor Fredell emphasized that this project was an experiment. “This type of newsletter has not been created at our school in the past, so we will have to see how it goes before making any long term plans or commitments,” he said.
Students in 1A3, taught by Mr. Fredell, and students in 1B3, taught by Mrs. Fredell, will initiate the experiment, researching stories about students, events, activities and other people and ideas associated with the Evangelical Lyceum Bratislava. News from the Evangelical Lyceum and those the school touches are the areas the newsletter will cover.
Students in 1A3 are Jakub Adamkovic, Miriam Babalova, Martin Bais, Tereza Bilkova, Nikita Bzduch, Miroslav Cambel, Lucia Holla, Katarina Hradska, Natalia Kinczerova, Miriam Sandarova, Lucia Vlkova.
Students in 1B3 are Beata Bednarikova, Kristina Demeterova, Vladimira Drabikova, Patrik Lovas, Maria Martisikova, Lenka Miklasova, Sara Olejarova, Dusan Sabo, Zuzana Synakova, Laura Pellerova.
