Find Out More about our Librarian. By Kristína Demeterová.
Who is the nice man smiling at you when you borrow books from the library? It is our librarian Mr. James T. Stensvaag. Not many people know more things about him than he is librarian, so if you want to know more, read the article.
In our library there are about 1700 books divided into two sections: books for students and books for professors. Sometimes you don’t know where you can find the book you want to borrow. Who helps you? Our librarian Mr. James T. Stensvaag. He is a retired historian and lover of books who is doing this job for 2 years. “I like books, that is the reason why I am doing it,” he said. His favorite book in the library is Charlotte’s Web and I found out that the most borrowed book is Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. When I asked him if the library is important for school he answered, “Yes, because it has all the literature that students study and they can also learn from books something about the world.”
Do you know that the librarian has assistants? Two girls from 2.B, Katarína Miklovičová and Kristína Ševčíková, are helping Mr. Stensvaag.“Mrs. Griačová asked us if we want to try it,” they told me. They are repairing books, putting them in the right place and checking up on books for students. They also helped with selling books at the book sale last week, where they collected money for a better library. “Our library needs new books, more space for them and to have a steady person who will be there full time.” So when you bought some books, you helped them.
And now some personal things about Mr. Stensvaag. He came here with his wife, Mrs. Paula Stansvaag, from Virginia. They have 3 daughters that already grown up and, besides books, he really likes repairing old musical instruments.
